Embrace your inner geek ...

Geek Chic has been a trend for some time now and one I think to hang onto. I love the look personally. Glasses are not only used for vision anymore, but an accessory. They are that extra something ... that final touch! Below are some rather good looking "geeks" in my opinion. What do you think?

When life gives you lemons ... use em!

Lemons are jammed packed with beneficial Vitamins and Acids (Vitamin C, AHAs and BHAs) that are not only good for cooking, but great for your skin! When it comes to buying facial scrubs and daily exfoliants ... they can add up and become quite expensive. So ... with that being said, try this all natural Lemonsugar Facial Scrub to do just the trick! What you will need:

- 1 fresh lemon OR organic lemon juice
- Olive oil
- Granulated white or brown sugar
- Cotton ball or cosmetic pad
- Water
- Mixing bowl and spoon

Mix approx. 2 tablespoons of the lemon juice with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and a touch of olive oil until a paste is formed. Apply directly onto a damp face (use warm water, as it will open the pores)and then start to scrub gently in a circular motion. If you find it starts to sting too much, dilute the mixture with some water. This scrub works by sloughing off dead skin, promoting skin elasticity and new cell regrowth. It will also flush out your pores and keep the skin feeling fresh and bright all day long. The lemons work as a natural toner and bleaching agent to help with dark age spots, sun spots and pimples. The olive oil will provide just enough moisturizing benefits for dryer skin.

If you don't have time for all the mixing and concocting, you can also take your cosmetic pad/cotton ball and squeeze the lemon juice directly onto it. Simply sprinkle the sugar on top and start to scrub away. (Again start with a damp face). Once you rinse, pat your face dry and follow with your favourite moisturizer.

So what did we learn? When life hands you lemons next time, I say use em!

More than just a jelly ...

... it's Vaseline! I absolutely love this petroleum based jelly for MANY reasons and I'm about to let you in on why. Together let's count down my top ten reasons why everyone should embrase Vaseline, especially when it comes to quick beauty fixes and daily skin regimens.

1) Apply to eyelashes for a natural, "wet" and fuller lashline. No mess here.
2) Use as a lip balm/chap ... feel the smoothness instantly.
3) Dry, cracked hands or feet? Before bed, smooth on a generous amount of Vaseline onto hands/feet and cover with an old pair of gloves or socks. Feel and see the difference in the monring!
4) For eyeshadow that doesn't stay in place, use a TINY bit of Vaseline on your eyelid before applying eyeshadow. This will also give a bit of a summer sheen.
5) Highlight the cheeks and add a flirty summer's glow by dabbing a small amount just along the apples and cheekbone area.
6) Use to heal dry, brittle cuticles and nails.
7) Run out of eye makeup remover? No worries, just use a cotton pad and a little dab of this miracle jelly and you're golden.
8) Apply to teeth for an effortless, shiny, lipstick free smile!
9) For unruly eyebrows that just won't stay in place, use Vaseline to keep the strays in order.
10) Mix your favourite lipstick with some jelly and you have yourself and tinted lip gloss.

Hats off to the pretty lady...

I've always been a fan of the Hat myself and any woman who can pull one off in my eyes, is ahead of the game and reeks of serious confidence ... Whether it's a good worn in baseball hat, beanie or my favourite yet, the fedora ... hats are always a fun/trendy way to finish off any outfit (done right obviously). You can dress them up or dress them down ... use them as a mask for a serious bad hair day ... or add a little mystery to any simple outfit. Have fun, experiment ... and try one out! These gals below know how to do it right ...

Real vs Fake ...

So it's a typical weekday night, I get home from work ... maybe get my butt to the gym, have some din din and ALWAYS sneak in a daily dose of celebrity gossip via Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood. One of the main topics on this particular episode I couldn't leave unattended had to do with Hollywood's obsession with Cosmetic surgery. Heidi Montag for example has been in many of the juicy headlines lately, too bad it's for all the wrong reasons. Anyhow ... the main issue that was being reported had to do with "Natural" being the new trend!? Does that mean Hollywood has gone so "Fake" that natural is now the minority and something trendy?? Something that people want? Given the industry I work in, and me truly believing "To each their own" ... I say more power to those who want to visit the Doc. for a little tuneup. But when is it too much? When has it gone too far? And why is natural making a comeback, waaaa??? Do we really live in a society that is based on vanity? I'm starting to think, yes. Young women (and men) have never been under more pressure to feel "beautiful" and look a certain way ... and well if natural is the new "it" thing, then I hope it lasts, because a smart fellow once said "Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you." Dr. Seuss.

Be your own unique self.
