So what ... it's Saturday night

... When I start I just can't stop, blogging that is. The creative juices get flowing, my mind wanders on many different levels and I just want to share. With that being said, I'm going to let you in on me. A list of things you may find interesting to know, or I could be wrong ... you may not care at all. I mean afterall, who the hell am I, and why should you care? Continue reading if you wish.

1) I am terrified of drowning ... seriously.
2) I practically was born with skates on. Started playing ice hockey with the boys at age 5 and sad to say this is my second year NOT playing on the ice. Single tear. I will play again.
3) I am obsessed with good teeth.
4) Chris Cornell might have the best male vocals. In my eyes.
5) I have and can play 2 acoustic guitars. One is hot pink and the other is electric blue. I need to play them more often.
6) I love to run.
7) I may have a small TV reality addiction.
8) At any time of day I can eat cheese.
9) My real name is Laura. So glad I go by Ashley. No offence Laura's.
10) I always have a water bottle with me.

Useless info, probably ... but you read it.

Living in a Ballerina world

It's easy, classy, can be dressed up or dressed down ... and it exudes serious confidence. The Ballerina Bun. Yet another NOW trend happening on the runways and slowly making it's way into our daily lives. (Mine anyways). Not only is this a great option for when the weather is unbearable, but it actually helps "lift" everything in the right direction, up. Most woman are concerned about things slowly starting to head south as they get older, so by pulling the hair to the crown of the head, it creates a taller, slimer face shape and even elongates your overall height. So show off those cheekbones and let your inner ballerina shine on.

What I'm listening to ...

Lovin Katy Perry and Timbaland's "If we ever meet again" ... awesome song for the gym! What do you think?

All about Denim ...

Love it or hate it ... denim on denim is making a serious comeback this year! There are definitely a few "rules" that you want to keep in mind while trying this look, otherwise you may end up looking like a redneck hillbilly with zero style at all.

#1)Try differnt washes. If you have a light/medium wash denim shirt, pair it with a jean that is a shade to two shades darker.

#2)Avoid denim that is acid-washed or tie-dyed. You want to keep it simple and clean looking.

#3)Accessories are huge! Break up the top and bottom denim pieces with a camel coloured or black belt. The brown and more earthy tones will create an urban/relaxed feel, while black will add a bit more of an edge and rocker look. Carry on the colour palette by adding a great bag, or bangles. And don't forget footwear!

Bronzed beauty ...

With spring in the air & more importantly summer in the near future ... the sun kissed look is something we all desire & have on our minds. Tanning booths have never been busier & they are a quick & easy alternative, than waiting for the heat wave to hit. However, natural rays or artificial, they are BOTH still VERY damaging to the skin. Premature aging, the risk of eye damage, skin cancer ... you name it. So what do I recommend? The safest way to achieve a natural looking glow is by using self tanning moisturizers and bronzers. Not only will you feel better about avoiding the risks of UV rays, but you will feel healthier overall because of the colour you can actually build by using bronzing products. A couple of my personal favourites are JERGENS Natural Glow - Firming Daily Moisturizer. This daily moisturizer allows you to build natural-looking colour all while firming and reducing the appearance of cellulite. (Clinically proven) You can find Jergens (along with the rest of their line) in any pharmacy for a very reasonable price! Another favourite of mine is Vichy's AUTO BRONZANT. This silky smooth Hydra-Bronzing Milk can be used for the face & body. It provides a natural bronzed look in just 1 hour & contains anti-dulling agents that allow an easy streak-free application for long lasting colour. Again, you can find this product in most pharmacies. So bronze away friends ... after all it is bikini season coming up!

Colourful cocktails for summer!

Summer is just around the corner, and I can't help but think of sitting poolside or spending my afternoon on a patio catching some rays while sipping on delicious cocktails. Some of my favourite's include the following:

the Caesar (my all time favourite!)
-1 to 2oz vodka
-fill with clamato juice and lots of ice
-a few dashes of tabasco sauce
-a few dashes of worcestershire sauce

You want to be sure you rim the glass with celery salt first and then go ahead and add the ingredients. Feel free to add many different flavors such as ... (splash of dill pickle juice, hot pepper juice, lemon, lime, salt, pepper) and as much "salad" as you desire! (celery sticks, dill pickle, jalapeno peppers, beans, olives, lime wedge, lemon wedge, prawns, jerky etc) Enjoy ... breakfast, lunch or dinner. Yum!

Amaretto Sour
-1.5oz of Amaretto liqueur
-2 splashes of sweet and sour bar lime mix

Pour Amaretto over ice in a cocktail shaker, add in the bar lime mix and shake. Strain and pour into glass. You can garnish with a cherry or lemon wedge. Enjoy!

Blue Lagoon
-1oz vodka
-1oz blue curacao liqueur
-lemonade

Pour vodka and blue curacao over ice in a highball glass. Fill with lemonade and top with cherry, lime wedge or even a pineapple slice. You are now ready to sit back and relax ...ahhh.

My top 5 picks that are must have items ...

Everyone has that one "I just can't live without product" ... and well, I have 5. These 5 items have been with me for some time now, and why change a good thing.

Number 1 - Dermalogica
I was introduced to this AMAZING skin care line over a year ago now, and will never go back! The Special Cleansing Gel, Toner and Skin Smoothing cream have really done wonders for my skin. I love the way Dermalogica makes my skin feel afterwards and better yet the results that come along with. Thumbs up! For more information you can find all they have to offer at http://www.dermalogica.com/

Number 2 - Buxom Lip Polish in "Krystal"
For those who LOVE a good lip gloss like myself, Buxom Lip Polish is the way to go! Not only do you get high sheen, but it also works as a plumper. So expect fuller, glossier lips in just one application. My go to colour is "Krystal". It's a clear finish that plays up your lips natural undertones. You can find Buxom at most high end cosmetic counters (Sephora, the Beauty Boutique at Shoppers etc.)... Or go online and check out the rest of the Buxom Lip Polish collection at http://www.bareminerals.com/

Number 3 - MAC blush (in any colour)
MAC cosmetics have always been known for their quality and amazing colour selection. I personally enjoy their wide range of blushes. From cream to powder, MAC has it covered. The colour is always long lasting and gives anyone that "fresh faced" look. For more ideas and information check out http://www.maccosmetics.com/

Number 4 - Crest toothpaste's Vivid White
For me white teeth mean everything. Maybe it's because I myself have gone through major dental work in the past or maybe it's because it shows a good sence of hygiene. Whatever it is that draws my attention to the pearly whites of my own and others ... I recommend Crest's Vivid White toothpaste for anyone that wants to polish up their smile.

Number 5 - Covergirl's Simply Ageless concealer
I have always enjoyed certain products from the line Covergirl, but lately I have been loving their Simply Ageless concealer. It's a light weight concealer that dosen't dry out your skin and is great for under the eye dark circles and any other blemish that needs a little help. You can find this product in any drugstore along with the rest of Covergirl's Simply Ageless line.

In the nude ...

The colour Nude is making a comeback this season, especially in the footwear department. By choosing a nude colour on the feet, it eliminates the hassle of "what goes with what" when putting together an outfit from head to toe. Nude simply goes with all! Reds, Blues, Purples, Blacks, Prints ... even Whites. It's a great first step towards the transition of fall/winter to spring & summer at little cost. So put your best foot forward and get in the Nude!

And the wait is over ... for good

For all of us who enjoy a little drama and better yet a good cat fight, the wait is finally over! The final season of the debatable reality show The Hills will air it's last and final episode on April 27th at 10pm on MTV. Viewers can expect more tears, new relashionships and new faces (literally). I must say, it will be missed on my part. Sad, I know ... but everyone has at least one guilty pleasure that they aren't always proud of. Mine, The Hills.
